Is this worth it at my stage?

If you are meeting investors, pitching clients, or launching publicly, yes. Your brand is the first thing people judge before they decide whether to trust you. A weak brand costs you deals you will never know you lost.

If you are still validating the idea, start with the Brand Identity Package, not The Full Launch. Get a credible brand foundation, test your business, then build the website when you know what it needs to say. We will tell you honestly on the discovery call which package makes sense for where you are.

How is this different from hiring a freelancer?

Accepted Answer

A freelancer typically does one thing: design or development, rarely both to the same standard. Dumani Media combines brand identity design and web development in one team, one process, and one handover.

You also get structure: a written proposal before we start, defined milestones during the project, two included revision rounds, and accountability for delivery on a stated date. Most freelancer arrangements have none of these. The risk of going quiet, missing a deadline, or delivering something inconsistent with what was agreed is significantly lower when the studio’s reputation depends on it.

Do I need a full brief before getting in touch?

Accepted Answer

No. You can reach out with nothing more than “I’m starting a business and I need a brand.” We ask the questions that help us understand what you need; that’s part of our job. The more context you can share upfront, the faster we can respond usefully, but a rough idea is enough to start the conversation.

Is there any obligation when I get in touch?

Accepted Answer

None at all. Sending a message or booking a call doesn’t commit you to anything. If you decide after the scoping conversation that we’re not the right fit, for any reason, that’s fine. The call is free, the proposal is free. The only thing that starts a project is your written approval of the proposal.

What do I need to have ready before starting a project?

For The Full Launch and the Brand Identity Package: your business name, a clear idea of what you do and who you serve, and the 50% deposit to start the clock. You don’t need a logo, mood board, or design direction; we develop that together.

For the Web Development Package: you need a finalised brand identity (logo, colours, and fonts) before we can build. If you don’t have one, start with brand identity first or go with The Full Launch.

What’s included in The Full Launch?

The Full Launch covers three phases delivered in three weeks:

Week 1, Brand: logo suite, colour palette, typography system, brand guidelines document, application previews.

Weeks 1.5–2.5, Build: custom website design (Figma), front-end development (React/Next.js), responsive build, SEO setup, performance optimisation.

End of Week 3, Launch: Google Business Profile setup and verification, Instagram business account creation, profile visuals applied, handoff call.

Everything is handed over completely.

Question 7

I need a website but don’t have a brand yet. What do I choose?

The Full Launch. It handles brand identity and web development in sequence: brand in Week 1, website in Weeks 1.5 to 2.5. We don’t start a website without a finalised brand, because the brand decisions (typeface, colour, tone) directly shape the website design. The Full Launch does both in the right order with one team.

Can I get just a logo without the full brand identity?

Accepted Answer

No. We don’t deliver standalone logos. A logo without a colour system, typography, and usage guidelines is an incomplete identity; it creates inconsistency problems within weeks of launch. Every social post, every document, every slide will look slightly different because there’s no system holding them together.

Our smallest offering is the Brand Identity Package, which gives you a complete, usable system in one week. It’s priced to be accessible and delivers everything you need to be visually consistent.

Can I get the Digital Setup Add-on on its own?

No. The Digital Setup Add-on must be paired with a Brand Identity or Web Development package. The reason: your brand identity must be finalised before we set up your Google Business Profile and Instagram, because the profile visuals, bio, and description all draw from your brand. Setting them up with placeholder visuals creates more work to fix later than it saves now.

Can I use individual services without a package?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, and Brand Strategy, which are scoped and priced per project. These don’t have fixed package structures because the scope varies significantly.

For Brand Identity, Web Development, and Digital Setup, these follow the package structure because they require a defined process and specific dependencies between them to deliver correctly.

Do you offer brand strategy as a standalone service?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Brand strategy covers positioning, audience definition, competitive analysis, messaging framework, and brand narrative: the thinking that makes design decisions intentional. It’s particularly useful for founders launching something new or whose current message isn’t landing with the right people.

It’s quoted per project based on scope.

Do you offer ongoing support after the project ends?

After The Full Launch, we offer an optional monthly support arrangement covering site updates, content changes, and profile management. This is discussed and agreed after the project closes, not sold as part of the package upfront.

The first 30 days post-delivery include small fixes at no extra cost. Larger changes after handover are scoped and quoted separately if a monthly arrangement isn’t in place.

How much does branding cost in Uganda?

We scope every project individually, because what a SaaS startup needs is different from what a travel brand needs. We price at the mid-premium range for the East African market: above freelancer rates, below large agency retainers.

Book a discovery call and we will give you a written proposal within 48 hours. No vague “it depends” without explanation.

Why don’t you publish fixed prices on the website?

Because the same package varies significantly in scope. A five-page website for a one-person consultancy and a twelve-page website for a funded startup both fall under “web development,” but they are different projects. Publishing one price would mean overcharging simple projects or underbidding complex ones. Neither is fair.

What we can say: prices are fixed per project once agreed. You always know the full cost before we start.

Do you charge per hour or per project?

Per project, always. You know exactly what you are getting and exactly what it costs before we start. No hourly billing, no time-tracking, no invoice that surprises you at the end of the month.

What is the payment structure?

Our standard structure is 50% at project kickoff and 50% on final delivery and approval. The deposit starts the clock; work begins once payment clears.

The Digital Setup Add-on is paid in full upfront.

For larger projects, a three-milestone structure (kickoff / mid-project / delivery) can be discussed.

What currencies and payment methods do you accept?

We invoice in both UGX and USD. Payment accepted via:

International clients typically pay via bank transfer in USD.

What if my budget is smaller than your packages?

Accepted Answer

Tell us anyway. We scope every project individually, and there’s flexibility in what’s included depending on what you need most at this stage. We’d rather have an honest conversation than turn away a founder who’s a good fit over a number that isn’t obvious yet.

If we genuinely can’t make it work, we’ll tell you, and point you to something that can, including our shop products if they fit your stage.

How long does each package take?

The Full Launch: 3 weeks from deposit receipt.

Brand Identity Package: 1 week from deposit receipt.

Web Development Package: 1–2 weeks from deposit receipt and brand assets handover.

Digital Setup Add-on: 2–3 days, running concurrently with the main project.

Note: late feedback from your side pushes delivery dates forward. This is agreed in writing before the project starts.

Can the timeline be shorter?

Not reliably. The timelines are the minimum for delivering each package properly. Compressing a three-week process into one week cuts corners in places that affect quality. If your deadline is genuinely urgent, tell us on the discovery call; we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible and what the tradeoffs are.

What does the process actually look like day to day?

Onboarding: Welcome brief and discovery call. We extract everything we need, including your goals, your audience, your competitors, and your constraints.

Delivery milestones: Design reviews at key stages, with a brand review at end of Week 1 and a website design review before development starts in Week 2. You approve before we move.

Communication: We message you when there’s something to review or a decision to make, not daily updates for their own sake. Founder-time respect is built into the process.

Handoff: A call to walk through everything delivered. All files, all credentials, all access transferred. Project closed.

What happens if a deadline is missed?

Accepted Answer

If something changes on our side that affects delivery, you hear about it the day it happens, with a revised date and a reason. Not the day the deadline was supposed to hit.

Note that late feedback from your side extends the timeline; this is written into the project agreement so there’s no ambiguity.

How many meetings are there?

Accepted Answer

The Full Launch involves three defined calls: the discovery call at the start, a brand review at the end of Week 1, and a handoff call at the end of Week 3. Async communication (email, WhatsApp) handles everything else. We don’t call meetings to cover things that should be messages.

How involved do I need to be?

Accepted Answer

You’re involved at three defined points in The Full Launch: the discovery call, the brand review at the end of Week 1, and the website design review in Week 2. Outside of those, we work independently. You don’t need to be available every day.

We flag decisions when they need your input, not every time we make a design choice. Busy founders shouldn’t need to manage their design studio.

How many revisions are included?

Accepted Answer

Two structured revision rounds are included in every package, one after each major deliverable (brand and website). “Structured” means revisions happen at defined points, not continuously. This keeps the project moving and the feedback specific rather than circular.

We share our reasoning behind design decisions so revisions are productive, like “the headline is too small for mobile screens” rather than “can you make it pop more.”

Who actually does the work?

Our in-house team, for design and development both. We don’t subcontract the brand work to a freelancer and the development to someone else. The same team that scopes the project builds the project.

You speak directly to the people doing the work. No account managers. No “I’ll check with the team and get back to you” on things the team already knows. Direct communication, same day responses.

What if I want to change direction mid-project?

Accepted Answer

Minor changes within the agreed scope are handled in the revision rounds. Significant direction changes, like a different audience, a different product positioning, or a fundamentally different design direction, affect the timeline and are discussed openly. We don’t quietly absorb scope changes and then surprise you with extras on the invoice. If a change affects what we agreed, we tell you before we do the work.

What if I’m not happy with the direction of the work?

Two revision rounds are included for exactly this reason. We share our reasoning with every design direction, explaining why we made the choices we made, so feedback can be specific and productive rather than subjective.

If after two revision rounds the work still doesn’t meet the agreed brief, we resolve it. We don’t close a project until both sides are satisfied with what was delivered against what was scoped.

Who owns the files when the project is done?

You do. Completely.

Every source file (Figma, SVG, AI), every export package (PNG, PDF, WebP), every piece of source code, and every access credential is transferred to you on handover, organised in a clearly named folder with a handover document explaining what’s what.

No subscription to access your own brand. No retainer to keep your website running. No platform lock-in. What we build for you belongs to you from the moment payment clears.

What if I need changes after launch?

Accepted Answer

Small fixes in the 30 days after The Full Launch are covered at no extra cost. “Small” means typos, image swaps, and minor copy changes, not new pages or new features.

Larger changes after the 30-day window are quoted separately, or handled through an optional monthly support arrangement agreed after handover. Scope and price are always confirmed before any work begins.

Can I take the website to another developer later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The source code is clean, typed (TypeScript), and documented; any competent React developer can pick it up without needing to reverse-engineer what was built. You own the repository, the hosting deployment, and every access credential. Nothing about the handover creates a dependency on Dumani Media.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance or retainers?

Optional monthly support is available after The Full Launch, covering site updates, content changes, and profile management for an agreed monthly fee. This is discussed after the project closes, not bundled in upfront.

We don’t require ongoing retainers as a condition of the original project. If you don’t want ongoing support, the project closes at handover and that’s the end of it.

Do you work with businesses outside Uganda?

Yes. We work with founders across East Africa, including Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania, and remotely with clients globally. The discovery call happens over Google Meet or Zoom. All files are delivered digitally. Communication runs via email and WhatsApp. Your location doesn’t affect what we can deliver.

Do we need to meet in person?

No. Every project from discovery to handover can run entirely online. For Kampala-based clients who prefer an in-person meeting, that can be arranged, but it’s not required at any stage of the process.

What time zone do you work in?

East Africa Time (EAT, UTC+3). Our working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm EAT.

For international clients in significantly different time zones, we schedule review calls at a mutually convenient time and handle async communication between calls.
